I spent an hour this week reading deep tech job listings and the thing that stuck with me is how few of them need an engineer. Rocket Lab is hiring a graphic designer. The job is mission patches, merch, and the graphics that go on the side of an actual rocket. $90k to start. Nothing in the listing about physics. I think people self-select out of this entire category. You see “space company” and assume the door is closed unless you can do orbital mechanics. But someone has to run the partnerships pipeline.
